Why the number never moves
Booking someone to photograph a moment is usually a conversation: a quote, a deposit, a package, a call. That is fine for a wedding and exhausting for a Tuesday. So we set our prices in public and hold them. What you agree to is what settles on your card, and if a price ever changes it changes here, on this page, before you book rather than after.
You pay once, at the moment you book, and that is the end of it. No deposit and a balance later, no invoice afterwards, nothing added for travel or parking or a few extra frames. If no Sidekick accepts your booking, the full amount is returned automatically.
Splitting with friends is built in. One person books, everyone who joins covers an equal share, and nobody has to chase anybody for money at the end of the night.
Most of what matters happens with an hour's notice.
Traditional photography is built around things you plan months out. Shotzi is built for everything else.

If people keep handing you their phone because your photos come out better, that is a skill, and it is worth money. Shotzi turns it into paid work on your own schedule. Bring a professional camera or bring the phone in your pocket, we have bookings for both.
Open to anyone 18 or over in the Upstate who passes our ID check, background check and work review. No studio, no website and no client list required. Remote editors can work from any state.
The things people ask first.
Is Shotzi available right now?
We are in beta in Greenville, which means yes, you can book, but it goes through a person rather than an app. Send a request and a real human comes back within a few hours with a Sidekick and an invoice.
The iPhone and Android apps come after the beta has taught us what to build. Early customers keep launch pricing permanently.
Is my Sidekick a professional photographer?
Only if you book a Sidekick Pro, and the app tells you which you are getting before you pay. A Sidekick shoots on their own phone and is chosen for their eye. A Sidekick Pro is a working photographer with verified gear and a verified portfolio.
Both pass the same checks. They are priced differently because they are different jobs, and we would rather say so than use the word professional loosely.
How are the photos edited so quickly?
Your Sidekick uploads straight from the app. The set is sorted and colour corrected automatically against the Shotzi house style, which takes minutes rather than hours. Your Sidekick then reviews the result themselves and releases it, so nothing reaches you without the person who shot it having looked at it.
That means a first set within four hours, the full gallery by the next morning and edited video inside two days. We would rather quote you a window we can keep on a busy Saturday than a faster one we cannot.
When am I charged?
Once, when you book, for the amount shown on the button. Nothing is added afterwards for travel, parking, extra frames or anything else.
If no Sidekick accepts your booking, it is refunded in full automatically and you do not have to ask.
Who actually shows up, and is it safe?
Somebody 18 or over who has passed an identity check, a criminal background check and a review of their real work. You see their name, their photos and their rating before you confirm, messaging stays inside the app, and every booking starts with a code you give them so you both know you have the right person.
Do I own the photos?
Yes. You own what is shot for you and you can post it anywhere. A Sidekick can only use it in their portfolio if you say yes, and you are asked once, plainly, after delivery rather than through a line buried in the terms.
What if nobody is available?
Then you are not charged and nothing is held on your card. Early on, in a brand new city, that will happen sometimes. We would rather say so than quietly take a booking we cannot fill.
Is there a subscription?
No, and there is not going to be one. Shotzi earns a share of each booking. If you never book again, you never pay us again.
